I first learned of the mansion and its eccentric designer from a collection of Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! Cartoons in my grade-school library. I never imagined that I would work there as a tour guide. These are the pictures I took there, and the stories that I told.

I heard that these remaining palm trees have been infected with some kind of disease from the trees across the street at Santana Row -- and that plans are underway to remove them and replace them with new ones, a full thirteen as there used to be before the street widening that took away some of the originals.
Hi Gene,
It's true. The palms are all dying because of infection from trees that were planted across from the estate. Additionally, some palms were removed when the road was widened.
They'll all have to be replaced eventually.
Just curious...
I have been wanting to visit the mystery house since I was a child, but have yet to see it.
I really like your Blog. Is there any chance that I could plan a trip and request you specifically as our tour guide?
