I first learned of the mansion and its eccentric designer from a collection of Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! Cartoons in my grade-school library. I never imagined that I would work there as a tour guide. These are the pictures I took there, and the stories that I told.

How did they make this hallway look creepy? It looks pretty normal to me. Do you know of any sites or pics that show it in a different way?
There's a documentary that plays on the Travel Channel that is a good example, but the secret is to place the camera about two feet off the floor, angled up. Then shoot through a filter to darken the room. Finally, move the camera slowly toward the door in front of you, heightening the tension as you approach.... the servant's parlor.
It looks creepy, unless you've seen it in real life.
Ironically, although it looks really mundane, more than one tour guide refuses to go to this area alone. They claim it give them the creeps and that they hear voices.
