I first learned of the mansion and its eccentric designer from a collection of Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! Cartoons in my grade-school library. I never imagined that I would work there as a tour guide. These are the pictures I took there, and the stories that I told.

Maybe it's just me, but how do you lose a statue?
In this case, the statue was broken and put into storage awaiting repair, then forgotten. When the statue was discovered again (fifty years later), it was in many, many pieces. It probably didn't look much like a statue at all.
